Pakistan Super League is the biggest and successful league in Pakistan. Pakistan Super League was founded in September 2015 with 5 franchises later on they added another franchise so now there are 6 teams in PSL. The first edition of the PSL was in 2016 and that was a successful edition that gave a boost to this league. This League follows the format of Double Round Robin and the playoffs.
Double Round Robins
Double Round Robins is the format in which the top four teams with good records will qualify for the playoffs. Every team plays 10 matches. The first four teams in the point tables qualify for the playoff. The First two teams who lead the points table play a match that is a qualifier round and the winning team qualifies for the final, on the other hand, the losing team will go in the eliminator round. So, there are two eliminator rounds in PSL. The 3rd and 4th number teams play the First eliminator round and the winning team will play the second eliminator round with the qualifier losing team and the team which lost the first eliminator will eliminate and the team which won the second eliminator will play the final with the winner of qualifier round.
PSL Winners and Runners Up
All 5 teams won the PSL trophy except Lahore Qalandars. Unfortunately, Lahore Qalandars didn't pick on the PSL trophy yet. The other teams like Islamabad United won the first edition of PSL in 2016 and Quetta Gladiator was a First Runner Up of the PSL and the PSL First Edition and Islamabad United was the first PSL winner and the winner of the first edition of PSL. and the second-time champions in 2018 but this time the Runner up team was Peshawar Zalmi. still Islamabad United is a team that won the PSL trophy two times. Other teams except Lahore Qalandars won the PSL trophy 1 time. In 2017 Peshwar Zalmi picked on the PSL trophy and the Runner up team was again Quetta Gladiator but unfortunately not the won but next year 2019 the star of Quetta Gladiator shined and finally it took place in the list of PSL winners
and this time again Peshwar Zalmi was in the final but unfortunately, this Peshwar Zalmi took place in the list of Runners up. The year 2020 was the year for Karachi Kings this year both teams Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars performed well and played the final for the first time and Karachi Kings won the title of PSL 5 and Lahore Qalandars was the Runner up also for the first time. The 6th team of the PSL came late but won the title of PSL 6 and that is Multan Sultan. Multan Sultan won the 6th edition of PSL in 2021 and is a defending champion in PSL 7 2022 and the Runner up of the 6th edition was Peshawar Zalmi that is a 1-time winner of the title of the PSL and 3-times Runners up of Pakistan Super League.
PSL 7 Draft & Mini Draft of PSL 2022
As PSL 7 is starting on 27 January 2022 and all the teams have been allowed to select 3 each Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, Players, and the two supplementary and emerging categories. In the PSL 7 mini-draft, the PCB has decided to allow 2 more players in the team so that emerging players and new talent will get a chance to play with professional players.
The domestic players and the players who didn't select in this edition can get a chance to play in PSL 7 so this is a big opportunity for emerging players to show their talent to secure a place in the international Team.
